Va Va Voom

Mannequins: Crystal Renn and Jacquelyn Jablonski
Stylist: Mel Ottenburg
Photographer: Terry Richardson

V Mag really knows how to do me well. There editorials are always full of fun and edge that one wouldn't find in "queen" fashion magazines like Vogue or Elle [well that depends on what country your in]. This spread, which features models of slightly different sizes wear the same thing to emphasize that great fashion fits all, does a great job showing what spring 2010 will be like. Ikat and tribal patterns, bright colors, and chunky jewelry that adds a bit of androgyny will be all the rave::.

Sweet Dreams

From his designs to his sexy looks, Marc Jacobs is without a doubt a man thats in my dreams. The clip below features Marc Jacobs showcasing some of his designs from the late 80's when the then 24 year old designer was just beginning to make a name for himself. Even back then Marc Jacobs was innovative and thinking ahead of his time::.

Going Bonkerz!

Sex and the City [DEUX]
Oh how I just love, love, love Sex in the City; from the fashion to the drama I just can't get enough. Most sequels to movies bomb, but I believe this will be an exception. The trailer totally makes up for the lackluster poster they put out at the beginning of the month. This will most definitely be a must see for [twenty-ten]::.

Words Can Not Describe...

So if your a faithful reader of RodneeChuvalo.com you would know that this is like my 3rd or 4th time blogging about Parisienne by Yves Saint Laurent, but this is my last [no promises though]. Any way I was getting out of the shower and there it was placed on the bed like a gift sent from heaven, but instead sent from my wonderful boyfriend whom I love. Wrapped so nicely I already knew what it was because the scent was leaking through the crevasses. And although I was anxious I still managed to unwrapped it carefully because I save everything. OMG it smells magnificent!!! I'm wearing a dab of the lotion now as I type. If you haven't smelled it I highly advise you to get a sample from your local department store. And if its not on you Christmas wish list...add it now::.

If I Had The Coins

I was browsing through vintage pieces on ebay and came across this haute vintage Versace jacket. Wowxers! Oh how I love it. $2750 is the asking price so thats whomp whomp::.

Bye Bye Phi

This economy really need to get back on the runway. WWD reported that founder of Phi, Susan Dell will be be closing the curtains. Like Lacroix, the recession kicked it around until it just couldn't take no more. Founded in 2003, the label was very short lived, but with that time they managed to make a name for themselves and became high sought after. Known for their structural garments Phi was seen to some a being the future of fashion. Its sad that all that innovativeness will soon come to a halt::.

Fashion Flashback Video

Yo Yo
Can't Play With My Yo-Yo
"...the fact I hit the eight ball often and the earrings I wear are called dolphins."
The video embodies hip hop fashion of the late 80's and early 90's. From the biker shorts to the bright parkas. And lets not forget those dolphin hoops that were in every round the way girls ear other than the bamboo door knockers, which made a come back a year or two ago....I think dolphins should come back on the market::.

Jeanetics

Stylist: Alex White
Photographer: Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer
Jeans are those staple items that we just can not get enough of, but do not double denim. If you must do so make sure your denims are different colors. A blue jean top a blue jean bottom is just tacky...real reminiscent of Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake.lol::.

Rapper's Delight

BePriv Paris: Street Setter Collection
Cute may not be what they were going for, but dammit I think they are.lol. Especially the Pharrell one. Pair these tees up with some chunky jewelry, a skinny pant, and a bad ass pump. Remember less is sometimes better::.

Deuxième Partie

Powxerz!!!
Phoks does it again with Illustramado 2. I featured Illustramado 1 a month ago, and like the second batch of photographics below, it was a banga. His work is sickening [symptoms are ooo-ing and ahh-ing]lol. I absolutely love his work::.visit his website NOW

Stylist Profile: Grace Coddington

Anna? No, its Grace...
I give Anna Wintour the utmost respect, but she's no saint.lol. Those who saw The September Issue and who are die heart aspiring stylists like myself know that Grace Coddington is the one that keeps US Vogue going. Its the spreads that make the magazine and Grace executes them, Anna is nothing but a voice of approval, but it is Grace that has the voice and the eye.
Born in Wales, Grace grew up reading Vogue. At the age of 18 she entered the fashion industry as a model. But sadly a car accident led to the slow down of her modeling, fortunately that wasn't the last of her. She then began working behind the scenes as a stylist at British Vogue and later came to US Vogue.
Grace Coddington recently had a brief, yet candid, interview with The Times. The interview discusses a variety of things like her dislike of celebrities and her relationship with close friend and co-worker Anna Wintour::.

Lets Play RodneeChuvalo Says

Party Into the New Year
Those New Years parties are coming up soon and you want to cross over into the [twenty-ten] looking fun, fly, and fashionable. Try this simple, yet eye catching look that will rock anyone's socks. You are not Lady Gaga [lol] so don't feel the need to be naked...it is winter. Throw on a jacket of some sort, a graphic tee that makes a statement, a skirt, and [pump] off. Please promise me you won't try to out do the disco ball. One sequin piece is enough...don't push it. Any way whatever you do have fun, i mean you did live through another decade::.

Better Late Than Never

Yeeess! I finally got my hands on the Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion. I hadn't planned on buying it, but when scanning through it in Boarders I just had to get it because the advice was above my expectations. I was expecting some cheesy, paper weight book that repeated its self over and over and gave mediocre information, but it indeed was not like that at all. The bios along with the Q & A from many different prospectives of people within the industry was very useful and encouraging. My fave section of the book of course was the stylist section, which featured bios and Q & A's of Jillian Davison, Andrea Lieherman, Havana Laffitte, Camilla Nickerson, and Ellissa Santisi. They all had their own stories and advise to give, but one piece of advise that was constant in all was RESEARCH. Be inspired by old films, look books, and the life around you. To be a successful stylist one must not just know how to put together an outfit, be able to create a story thats relevant and expresses your style. I highly advise anyone who's interested into going into the fashion industry to purchase it, you will not be disappointed::.

Alice In Fashion Land

Vogue Jan. 2010
Today my boyfriend and I went to see AVATAR and the amazingness of it made up for how long it was [2hr.40min.]. Any way one of the previews was "Alice in Wonderland", I don't know if that was this spreads inspiration, but it reminded me of it. Full of white and patterns like floral and ikat, it just srcreams Spring 2010::.
