Technology Sucks

Ever I saw Paris Hilton’s T-Mobile SideKick covered in Swarovski crystals I knew that I will one day own one of my own. And indeed I did, last year I purchased the new 2008 SideKick and it was not even time for me to upgrade so I paid full price. No, it was not jeweled out but it was mine. My friends can tell that I was like a baby getting candy. But after the first week I came to realize that I wasted my money I was extremely upset. The SideKick was nothing like I thought it should be. With a childish background display and complicated steps to take just to do something, the T-Mobile SideKick is one the worst phones I have ever had. It also turns off by itself sometimes and in order for me to turn it back on I must take out the battery causing all my phone numbers that are not on my SIM Card to erase. The phone does not even have a calculator feature. I do not advise anyone to waste their time and money buying this piece of crap that T-Mobile thought they were blessing us with::.

Shopping Herself In Debt

My Valentine’s Day was great without a doubt. I got flowers, candy, and expensive things, but what will be memorable is going to see Confessions of a Shopaholic with my boyfriend. This fashion love movies was great for any couple to see even if he does not have any fashion sense. Confession of a Shopaholic starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy was terrific. It was a classic girl falls in love and gets the man she wants kind of movie. Although there were some cheesy parts, like when the manikins come to life trying to persuade her to shop,and it it was not as magnificent as the classic The Devil Wears Prada, I still found it great. And my boyfriend even said he liked it also. But beware because like myself you may find out that you relate way to much with the character when it comes to shopping and may relize that you are also a shopaholic::.

Friday the 13th: FASHION

I honestly can not wait for Friday the 13th to arrive. No, it’s not because the new Jason movie is coming out or because it is one day away from Valentine’s Day. Those things have nothing to do with my excitement. But what does excite me is the debut of Confessions of a Shopaholic, which will take The Devil Wears Prada’s place for being the best fashion movie, and the kick off for New York Fashion Week. Yes, I have already purchased my ticket for the movie and I will be gladly watching the fashion shows from my HP Laptop on YouTube::.

Sequel to Sex

Yes! It is indeed finalized! Sarah Jessica Parker and the rest of the clique have signed their contracts to begin work on the Sex and the City sequel. The phenomenal success of last year’s movie, which grossed $415 million worldwide at the box office, was all the reason they needed to put add another addition. Planning to hit theater in the summer of 2010, so you have plenty of time to schedule this event; I know I am::.

Okay Ms. James

The talented Etta James, who was played by Beyonce in last year’s movie Cadillac Records, really let loose at one of concerts in Seattle. The legendary signer absolutely slammed Beyonce. Etta was quoted saying “…she gonna get her ass whopped” and mockingly saying “the great Beyonce”. Now, I’m not so hung up on Beyonce as much as many other people are, but I would not have slayed her as bad a Etta James is, especially if she played me in a movie. And not only does she talk badly about Beyonce, she also bashes President Obama. Ms. James, as we get older we should all demonstrate a little class::.

Never Giving Up

One thing we must do in this New Year is stop sleeping on Ms. Milian because no matter how bad her album sells are she never gives up. Making a comeback with a few other artists this year like Missy Elliot, Andre 3000, and the one and only Prince, Christina Milian’s new album titled Dream in Color is due March 17th. So far her first single, “Us Against The World”, is going quite swell; let’s hope that her album does the same::.

Living Up To Her Name

Oddly enough this former Spice Girl, that in my opinion was just a background singer, is one of 21st century’s top fashion icons. Sporting fur and black skinny jeans (which is becoming a classic piece of clothing that everyone should have), Victoria Beckham most definitely defines what it is to be Posh::.

The Real Will Smith

Black history month is indeed here. I enjoy celebrating the many Black people who have made a difference in the world. Matter of fact everyday is a celebration to me when it comes to giving thanks to those ancestors who have paved the way for African-Americans like me. And as a black fashion major I understand the importance of becoming something that is way beyond the expected since the number of African-Americans in the fashion industry is only what it is today because of celebrities who think they can do anything because they have the money.

Willi Smith, is known as the first most successful African-American designer in fashion history. Selling $25 million a year, Willi Smith was without a doubt extraordinary. No, he was not a singer or any kind of socialite before his great earnings. Willi attended Philadelphia Arts Institute where he studied fashion illustration. He also attended Parsons School of Design, but soon dropped out and took a risk that would change his life. In the late 1960s he began designing sportswear for Digits. He later began his own company specializing in sportswear called Williwear. It was a huge success. At the peak of his career Will Smith died from AIDS at the age of 39 in 1987. The success of the African-American man inspires me significantly to never give up and to become an even bigger figure in the world of fashion::.
